Wise Up to Your Waste: Clever Waste Management Tips

Smart Ways to Manage Waste
When the house clearance ends, you can end up with a heap of items worthy only for waste disposal. That does not mean to immediately dump them altogether in your rubbish bin. Be smart with your waste, especially since most of it can go for recycling. People spend hours upon hours thinking of ways to ease up their waste management and make for a better recycling system that would both rid their home of all rubbish and make it so that all that rubbish does not end up in a landfill to dissolve and pollute the environment. You can follow some of their examples and learn how to deal with your own rubbish in a smart way so that when rubbish removal day comes, everything is so organised that the waste clearance service does not have to drag a huge, dripping bag of rubbish through the house. Here are some tips just for that.
• Don’t mix the waste. Have a bin for every type – glass, paper, plastic, metal, electronics, organic, etc. If you have enough space, you can even further divide the types, like having bins both for cardboard and lighter types of paper, like newspaper, mail, brochures, magazines, etc. The more organised your waste is, the easier it is to deal with.
• See when waste collectors come to take the items for waste disposal and always be ready to take out the rubbish bins.
• Check out your local council’s policy on recycling. If there are collectors for both wet and dry wastes, you need to be aware. Wet waste is organic waste, and if your town or city provides such a service, it should be done daily. And you should be sure to do it daily – organic waste (which is fruits, vegetables, and green waste from your garden) can become quite smelly after a while, and you do not want that staying in your garage for too long.
• Alternatively, you can keep the green waste for your personal compost heap. If you are an adequate gardener, you should find plenty of use for the organic waste without sending it for recycling.
• Have bins or containers for your waste all throughout the house, not just at one place. That way you will better organise the waste and will later have less difficulties when dumping it in the appropriate bins.
• Have a few bins or bags just for papers around the house as you use that the most – junk mail, old newspapers, read magazines, flyers, receipts, etc.
• If the city doesn’t collect a certain type of waste, you can check your local supermarkets – some of them have their own recycling system going on, and you can use their bins for things like batteries and light bulbs. Do not be afraid to enquire about it – there are more people into recycling than you may think.
• Keep the waste clean. Yes, that sounds weird, but what it means is
do not mix it with grit, sand, dust, etc. Those are not recyclable and should go in a bin headed for a landfill. To avoid mixing the wastes, whenever you are cleaning, do not throw the contents of your vacuum’s bag or your waste bucket in the same place as your junk disposal heap.
With this you can keep the waste organised and always ready to be easily removed from your home. This makes your waste management efficient and you can simplify the rubbish removal process to the maximum. Stick to this system and you will not only help yourself, but the environment as well.
